PETALING JAYA: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) will further tighten the safety and cleanliness guidelines of premises for the comfort of customers.
MPK Corporate Communications Director, Norfiza Mahfiz said these guidelines are to address issues involving cleanliness, safety and overcrowding of stalls placed inside and outside shop premises, restaurants or food courts.
"Among them is the number of restaurant and eatery premises that are allowed a maximum of five units for side lot premises while three units in the middle lot.
"The calculation for the food court is based on the size of the open space of the food court divided by 330.68 square feet to get the number of stalls allowed in a food court
"While the stall license in the store will be licensed to the master license holder only," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Norfiza added, according to the rules of the Full Council Meeting Number 12 (2023) on December 28, 2023, it has been decided that the stall license holder in the store can be renewed as it is.
In addition, he said, the council will review the premises within six months to see if they are suitable from the aspects of safety, comfort and congestion in the premises as well as some other regulations.
"Stalls that are outside the premises will not have their licenses renewed until the stalls are placed inside the premises.
"In-shop stall license renewal can be done at the Klang Municipal Council's Integrated Counter or online by submitting a copy of the 2023 master licence, 2023 in-shop stall license and a valid 'typhoid' injection," he said.
Therefore, Norfiza said the MPK places great emphasis on issues related to hygiene because it involves customer safety and enforcement will be carried out from time to time.
For the record, the Implementation of Klang Municipal Council's 2023 In-Shop Licensing Guidelines was approved in March 2023 and came into force from 1 April of the same year.
