KLANG, MARCH 1: Sri Kota Specialist Medical Center (SKSMC) built a escalator to make it easier for people with disabilities (OKU) and the elderly, especially patients.

Klang Mayor Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan said the facility was the right choice, especially in emergency situations, traffic of patients, staff and visitors.

"Klang now has the status of a city. Several aspects need to be improved including creating a safe community environment, the best transport system and economic sustainability.

"All of this will not be successful without the support of the people of Klang including SKSMC who are making strides to produce health care innovations in addition to pioneering a new paradigm in providing modern facilities such as the first escalator facility in the Royal City," he said.

He said this while inaugurating the escalator in the main lobby of the medical center here today.

SKSMC director Tan Suet Guan said the facility was in line with the Royal Klang City Council's (MBDK) vision to develop the historic city and improve the country's healthcare landscape significantly.

"Efforts towards providing modern facilities include the improvement of the 24-hour Emergency Department, the opening of more outpatient clinics and the improvement of comfort at the specialist hospital's three-level cafe.

"Each facility improvement is carefully designed to ensure the provision of community health care facilities is fast, effective and comfortable for patients and visitors," he said.

In conjunction with SKSMC's anniversary celebration, Suet Guan said her party announced two corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, namely Sunathon 2024 and free health screening for the elderly.

Sunathon 2024 is provided to orphans aged seven to 12 who will be circumcised under the supervision of Consultant General Surgeon, Dr Ahmad Muhsin.

Free health screenings are offered to seniors aged 60 and over to promote the well-being and health care of the group involved.
