KLANG, FEB 5: Majesty the Sultan of Selangor ordered the upgraded city of Klang to be known for its clean image and historic heritage appeal.
Thus, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj said that the things that need attention are the cleanliness of residential areas, rivers and banks as well as good infrastructure facilities.
Majesty also emphasized the focus on restructuring the housing sector and business areas in addition to overcoming the crow population problem and its control.
"The city of Klang is close to Beta's heart, not because it is home to Istana Alam Shah, but because Klang holds various histories of the Selangor sultanate and also the establishment of the state.
"I witnessed the development of the city of Klang through various phases in terms of physical, social and demographic changes as well as the increasing population every year.
"I am grateful that Klang has gone through various phases of success and challenges since the colonial era until today which has allowed the people to enjoy rapid development and progress," said Majesty.
Majesty also wants the party responsible to continue promoting interesting and historic places to stimulate Klang's tourism industry, thus generating the economy and residents' income.
Earlier, the Sultan of Selangor agreed to complete the proclamation ceremony of the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) which took place at the Wyndham Hotel, near here.
In July last year, the federal government announced that the Klang Municipal Council would be upgraded to a city, thus becoming the 20th local authority to obtain the status.
Following this, the federal and state governments allocated RM34.6 million to improve public facilities in Klang including markets, public toilets and footpaths.
